The UKIPO published Tribunal Practice Notice 2/2023 on 25 January 2023, setting out a change of rule on document service in inter partes trademark proceedings (e.g., invalidation, revocation, or rectification): for an applicant or owner of such contested right that do not hold a valid UK AFS, the UKIPO will now seek to obtain one in the UK (which includes the Isle of Man), Gibraltar, or the Channel Islands before any formal serving of documents.
